UCLA-bound LHP/OF Kaitlyn Terry, #5 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100, recently talked to Extra Inning Softball about Arizona Storm National-Mathis, weightlifting and plyometrics, PGF Nationals, Diamond Sports Hotshots Invitational, Hotshots National-Nelson, private investigator, UCLA, Lisa Fernandez, Chris Brown, “All American” and archery.

Honors: #5 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100; Gatorade Arizona Player of the Year; 1st team All-Conference; and 4A Conference Player of the Year.
Travel Ball Fall Stats: Hitting — 30 games, .464 AVG, 1.100 SLG; Pitching — 19 games, 164 Ks and 0.21 ERA.
High school Stats: Hitting — .595 AVG, 1.509 SLG, 17 HRs; Pitching — 427 Ks, 0.33 ERA and 14 no-hitters.
Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? I became involved with Storm in 14U and stayed ever since and I love the organization.
Do you have any suggestions for training methods or apps and why? Weightlifting and plyometrics have been a big part because you need to get stronger.
Can you tell us about your experience at PGF Nationals this summer? I had a great experience. Got to meet and play new teams! We had a good run, but fell too short.
What was your favorite fall tournament/event and why? Diamond Sports Hotshots Invitational in Texas because that’s when the team started to come together.
Which player/team was your toughest opponent and why? Hotshots (National-)Nelson because they are well-coached and have elite athletes.
What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? Private investigator because I have always been interested in that stuff and I love everything about it.
Can you tell us why you decided to commit to UCLA? I decided to commit to UCLA because everything felt like home when I was on my visit. The coaches/players made everything comfortable. Also, it’s not far from home and I love the coaching style and coaches!
Who is your sports hero and why? Lisa Fernandez because she has the same bulldog mentality as I do!
What’s the best hype song and why? “Run it” by Chris Brown or “Down with the Sickness” by Disturbed because they just get me ready and the beat to the first song is catchy.
What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? “All American” because it had to do with college and sports!
Do you have a secret talent/skill? It is not really secret, but I like archery and to shoot bows!
