Tell us about playing for the Firecrackers and how you became involved with them?
I play for the AL Firecrackers 05-Davidson. This is my first season with this team. Changing teams at this age can be hard, but the coaches and players made the transition so easy. They’re my family and I love going to battle on the softball field with them. I’ve played against Coach Spencer (Davidson) for as long as I can remember. This past fall he was looking for another player and I was looking for a new home. It was just meant to be.
What do you bring to the team?
On the defensive side, I think my versatility helps my team the most. I am able to play SS, second and catch when needed. At the plate, I am a hitter/slapper with the ability to slap for power and the ability to put the ball on the ground for infield singles. I don’t strike (out) often and I love stealing bases.

What area are you focusing on/trying to improve this summer?
My goal is to always be better than I was the game before. My Dad and I have pretty good conversations after games about what I did well and what I felt like went wrong. Small adjustments can make big things happen. My main focus this summer has been to hunt for pitches that I hit best. When I swing at those pitches, I feel like I can hit my best. I am also working hard to be a more vocal leader.
Can you talk about your experience at the Triple Crown Colorado 4th of July?
This was my first experience playing in Colorado and I had a blast. The weather there is amazing. I attended the Firecracker Colorado College Exposure Camp and enjoyed being in front of some of the top coaches from across the country. The number of girls from the FC organization truly shows how great a job Tony Rico has done.
