Tell us about Explosion and you got involved with the So Cal-based team…
Coach Donnie Hagberg had seen me play in the past and always kept in touch with my Dad and me. He was always very friendly and never pushed us into doing or committing to anything for which we weren’t ready. I wasn’t sure about playing in the fall as I was considering playing volleyball, but when I did make the decision to play softball, Coach Donnie offered us the opportunity to join his 18U Gold team and we kindly accepted. Bret Denio leads the organization and has been a great resource in everything softball related.
What do you bring to the team?
Most importantly, I try to be a great teammate by being supportive, selfless and to have fun in between plays. It’s all about the team and for the team. I work extremely hard during the week in softball and weight training. I hope it shows in my play, and possibly inspire others to work hard, also.
What area are you focusing on/trying to improve this summer?
If I had to narrow it down to one thing, it would be trying to be a more complete batter, to be able to hit any pitch in any location and with power. But, I can’t ease up with any part of my training. Batting, fielding, speed, strength and agility is what I work on every week.
