BATTLING BACK
Impact Panthers 16U-Black P Nina Barrouk has been battling her way back from injury for quite a while and the 2025 left-hander is doing everything possible to be back and be better for her teammates.
“In November of 2020, I was diagnosed with patellar tendinitis in both of my knees,” Barrouk said. “I continued to play through my junior high softball season with mild pain while following a regimen of at home — stretching and icing.
“This past December, I had a sharp increase in pain, which made it difficult to walk, work out and pitch. I saw an orthopedic specialist, who ordered a MRI and advised me to rest my knees. I saw no improvement, so I sought the advice of my current doctor at CHOP.”
Barrouck hit a personal best the other day and she’s not done, yet.
“I am now on my new regiment of physical therapy two times a week, strength training and an at home stretching program. I am finally seeing some relief and most importantly able to pitch again. With my high school season approaching, as a freshman my goals are to continue sharpening my mechanics with my amazing pitching coach Brandon Carr, to be a key contributor to my high school team, to play a competitive travel schedule this summer and fall, to stay healthy, and to continue challenging myself as a pitcher.”
