Tell us about your club team and how you became involved with the Florida Storm?
I play travel ball for Florida Storm 18U National-Shepherd and couldn’t ask for better teammates or coaches! I have been playing for Coach Jerry (Shepherd) since the fall of 2021 after guest playing with the team at the USA Summer Gold Nationals 18U in Salem, VA, where we took runner-up. Previously, I had played on another great team, the Atlanta Vipers 05-Hudson, but decided to make a change; I enjoy the challenge of playing in the higher age brackets and on the Storm. I play with three players, who also attend Melbourne High.

Jasmine pitched two perfect games this year for her Melbourne (Fla.) High Team

Our team is made up of strong players all looking to play at the next level. We practice with purpose. We have team practices on weekends due to the fact that our players are spread across the state, but we all put in individual work during the week. I personally would pitch every day of the week, but my parents “force” me to take a day off. To avoid searching for a catcher, they built me a pitching wall in our backyard for which I am so extremely thankful! This summer our team has a great schedule. We are playing locally in several tournaments like PGF Show Me the Money and CF States, but we are also attending the (Triple Crown) Colorado Sparkler, Atlanta Legacy Invitational and USA Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City. I am looking forward to a busy summer traveling around the country with my teammates!

Can you tell us about your sophomore softball season at Melbourne High in Florida?
Last year, as a freshman, we made it to the Regional semifinals when we lost to Viera. This year, we were determined to make it further with our eye on the state championship. We practiced hard and faced each game with intensity. We went 26-2-1 and made it as far as possible, winning at states. For me personally, with the opportunity to call my own pitches, the game from the circle took on a new dimension. It encouraged me to study the mental side of the game in more depth, sizing up my batter. I studied their placement in the batter’s box, their demeanor and, of course, their swing and tried to find the best pitch sequence for success in the circle.
