Top Gun Events & The Collective Engine Partner To Provide NIL Opportunities For Softball Players

Rob Behymer of Top Gun Events presents a check to 2023 grad Landry Cochran from Oronogo, Mo. who signed with NCAA Div. 2 school Drury University. Top Gun and The Collective Engine have partnered to provide more opportunities like this one to support student-athletes.

Robb Behymer, the head of Top Gun Events (TGE), and Tony Wyllie, the Founder and CEO of The Collective Engine (TCE), announced today a partnership which will allow the two companies to provide more NIL opportunities for athletes, including softball players.

“By working together, the aim is to empower student-athletes to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams,” the two organization heads stated in a press release drafted by The Collective Engine (see the complete release below).

The two leaders are accomplished in their fields and look to combine resources, knowledge and expertise to identify athletes who can significantly benefit from the partnership.

Behymer’s flagship event, the Top Gun Invitational, reached the 11-year mark this Summer and continues to be recognized as one of the premier summer tournaments in fastpitch softball. Based in the Kansas City (Mo.) metro area, Top Gun Events has featured many of the top travel teams and club players in the country.

Noted softball players who’ve appeared at Top Gun Events include Paige Parker, the two-time Oklahoma Sooner NCAA Champ and 1st Team All-American who went on to play for the USSSA Pride; Sydney Sherrill (the four-time All-American and national champion at Florida State; Lynnsie Elam, a 2021 All-Big 12 tournament selection and member of the Oklahoma national champs; Braxton Burnside, an Arkansas 1st Team All-American and two-time All-SEC honoree and Jordy Bahl (the recent transfer to Nebraska who won a pair of national titles at Oklahoma and, before that, was the National Gatorade Player of the Year and No. 1-ranked player in the 2021 Extra Elite 100).

Tony Wyllie of The Collective Engine has an impressive resume in the sports industry, having worked more than 27 years in sports management including serving as the Senior Vice President of Communications for the Washington Redskins football organization; helping the Rams through their 1995 transition from Los Angeles to St. Louis as well as the relocation and renaming of the Tennessee Titans. More recently, he served as the Regional President & Managing Director of the Special Olympics.

Wyllie stated of the new venture:

“We are very excited to partner with one of the premier companies (TGE) that has a strong footprint in all areas of softball and other sports.”
