Press Release – USA Softball – WBSC World Cup Finals – USA Wins Silver in WBSC World Cup

Yesterday in the WBSC World Cup gold medal game, the Eagles lost to Japan by a score of 6-1. USA takes home Silver and Canada won Bronze.

Going into the medal round USA had not given up a run in 28 innings, but ran into a hot hitting Japan squad who capitalized on timely hits and errors to defeat the #1 ranked U.S. National Team. Japan had 11 hits on the day, the USA had 5.

USA shutout Japan on Thursday July, 20th 2-0 in the first game of the Super Round.

– Former Oklahoma pitcher Kelly Maxwell (Friendswood,TX) started for Team USA going 2 innings with 3K’s. She gave up 4 hits and 2 runs, 1 earned.

– Former UCLA pitcher Megan Farimo (Vista, CA) pitched 1.2 innings allowing 4 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks. Farimo struck out 1 on the day.

– Former UCLA pitcher Ally Carda closed out the game pitching 3.1 innings, striking out 2. Carda gave up 3 hits and no runs.

– Former Utah Ute Hannah Flippen (Bonita, CA) went 2 for 3 on the day scoring the only run for the USA

– Former Florida State Seminole Jessie Warren (Tampa Bay, FL) went 2 for 4

– Former Florida Gator Amanda Lorenz (Moorpark,CA) went 1 for 2 with an RBI
