Once of the highlights of my job is being able to tell great young players that they’re ranked #1 in their class.
I remember telling Amanda Lorenz she was #1 in the 2015 class between games at the Huntington Beach Sports Complex during PGF Nationals one year.
Sometimes it’s been while the athlete is at home (Sam Roe) or in the classroom (Jordyn Bahl), though more frequently it’s on the fields and/or around the team.
That was the case with Keagan, who found out Friday in the middle of her competing at the ASA Nationals (which Keagan’s team, Mojo – Fisher, won, by the way) after pitching a perfect game on the march to the title.
The videos below, Parts I and II, where she learns in a phone call from me (as it’s outside you are fortunate in that you don’t have to hear much of my nasally voice).
But what I love about these brief clips are the reactions of Keagan, yes, but also her Mojo teammates who are truly happy for her, including Taylor Pannell, who is the player in Clip 2 who mentions Keagan’s perfect game!
