Through the first two years of her career, Stanford pitcher Alana Vawter was an all-PAC 12 and all-region selection. She was a Top 15 finalist for National Freshman of the Year in 2021 and an all-PAC Freshman honoree in the same year.
Really, the only thing she wasn’t was an All-American. Until Wednesday.
Vawter earned Second Team All-American honors from the NFCA, an award that was announced on Wednesday afternoon on the eve of the Women’s College World Series.
At a press conference where the All-American teams were announced, Vawter was visibly moved when she first heard the words “you are an All-American”.

Favorite press conference moment ever. @alanavawter is and has been a stud, but to see her raw emotion at being named an All-American was incredible.pic.twitter.com/XKOU39QXpM
