2021 Extra Elite 100 Profile: Brianna Evans… A Balanced Combination of Speed & Power(lifting)!

Brianna uses her speed to beat out a hit for the Texas Glory. Photos by Kevin Shelton.

Brianna Evans, who was named as one of the top players in the 2021 Extra Elite 100 this week, can seemingly do it all.

She has great speed which uses in softball as a triple threat lefty to get on base and as a defender to track down balls, be it as an infielder or an outfielder, and has also been a point guard in basketball and run track.

Carrying a 3.96 GPA, the Texan was All-District on the softball field and off and coaches rave about her passion to improve her game and her strong worth ethic.

And another thing that makes this 5-foot-2, 125-pound high school sophomore unique is her success in powerlifting.

At the Texas State Powerlifting Championships in March, 2018, Brianna represented her school and placed 13th in the 132-pound weight class with a combination of 675 pounds as she had lifts of 265 pounds in the squat, 135 pounds on the bench and 275 pounds deadlift.

*****

What does it mean to you to be considered as one of the top 100 players in your class?
It means my hard work is paying off, but I still have a long way to go.

Looking back on your career so far, both club and high school, what’s been your favorite experience (or experiences) both in softball and off the field?
One of my favorites would have to be winning the Top Gun Invitational, it was one of the best times of my life because of the team I was with.

Brianna’s not afraid to go all-out to make a play, even a diving catch on turf!

What would you say are your strengths on the field?
I think my top strengths are definitely my speed and athleticism. I also do everything with a purpose and passion.

Have you set personal goals for yourself for this year? Or in general?
I always strive to be better than I was the year before. I also want to hit my first out-of-the-park home run and be a better team leader.

Do you have any softball superstitions?
I am a very superstitious person! if I have a good game in a certain pair of pants or jersey, I try to wear that again I obviously wash them!).
