On paper, Georgia wasn’t “supposed to be” a World Series team last season. Yet there they were; after finishing 11th in the SEC regular-season standings, the Dawgs were the only non-seeded team to host a regional and went undefeated in both the regional and super regional rounds en route to a berth in Oklahoma City.
After the season, longtime head coach Lu Harris-Champer announced her retirement and ace pitcher Mary Wilson Avant graduated. It’s a new-look Bulldog team, in a lot of ways, entering 2022.
