PGF Nationals Team of the Day (Sunday/Early Monday)

Sunday and early Monday—prior to the 18U and 16U Opening Ceremonies today—the pool play continue and, in what is likely one of the biggest upsets so far of the early rounds, BSC Bengals – Greene  shut out Georgia Impact Holcombe 2-0 to advance in the winners bracket of 16U Premier Pool A.

Bengals Greene got a seven-inning shutout performance from 2025 pitcher Bella Settembro and several players stepped up both on offense and defense.

2025 first baseman Maddie Waddell went 2-for-2; 2025 left fielder Olivia Oskorus went 1-for-3.

Riley Greene drove in the first run on a sac fly and Maddie Heimann a pinch runner scored the second run coming all the way around from first on Emily Wooten’s double.

The two So Cal teams, BSC Bengals and Georgia Impact, share a nice moment after their game.

Wooten also made a diving catch in the top of the 7th with two runners on to help secure the win.

The team plays again at 5pm Tuesday against I-5 Snyder Fitz.

“We knew they were going to be a tough team, but we battled the whole way getting contributions from the starters and the subs,” Head Coach Brian Greene said.

“It was a total team victory today!”

PGF Player of Note:

Gotta throw out props to 2026 Aubrey Batts of Fusion 16U National Unruh/Hunt, who hit .571 with 4 RBI’s in her team’s pool games.

The Fusion won its pool and Batts and crew look to make some noise moving into bracket play now… we’ll spotlight the talented underclassman soon.
