As part of our in-depth preseason college softball coverage, today we dive into the West Coast Conference – the WCC – and forecast what could be in store for the league during the 2023 season.
1. Conference Breakdown
Loyola Marymount and BYU tied for the WCC regular-season crown in 2022, though LMU took the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament via a tiebreaker after winning their series over the Cougars.
BYU will depart the WCC after this season, headed to the Power 5 and the Big 12. The move will leave the conference with just five softball-playing members.
The current membership in the West Coast Conference’s softball offering numbers six. Those teams include BYU, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Saint Mary’s, San Diego, and Santa Clara.
