Boston University head coach Ashley Waters recorded the 200th win of her head coaching career in a 7-1 win over Bucknell in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Waters also earned win #201 in the second game of the doubleheader, a sweep that vaulted her Terriers team to a 22-13 record on the season.

As she celebrates the milestone victory, here are Five Fast Facts about Waters and her career.

1. She reached the milestone in her 316th career game as a head coach.

Since Waters got to Boston U, the Terriers have done a lot of winning. She reached the 200-win milestone in her 316th game as a head coach – and in her 96th game against a Patriot League opponent, of which she has won 81.

2. She is in her seventh season leading the Boston program.

Hired in the summer of 2015 to take over the reins at BU, Waters has served as the Terriers’ head coach ever since. In 2018 and again in December 2021, Waters signed new contract extensions to remain the BU leader long-term.

3. She has won a conference championship in four separate years.

Technically speaking, Waters could be classified as a 7-time conference champion. In her tenure at BU, the Terriers have won three Patriot League regular-season titles and four conference tournament championships. The program is currently riding a 3-year streak of sweeping both the regular-season and conference titles in the Patriot League.

4. She began her coaching career right out of school.

After graduating from Maine in 2008, Waters began her coaching career at her alma mater in 2009. She went on to coach at the travel ball level before joining the coaching staff at Harvard, where she guided the Crimson’s infielders and hitters.

5. She was the Player of the Year during her playing career.

During her playing career at Maine, Waters was a two-time All-Region honoree and was an all-conference first-team honoree as both a junior and a senior. She was the America East Player of the Year in 2008, a year when she batted .352 and hit ten home runs.
