Athletics Mercado AZ 2026 MIF/OF Avery Gehrke is at the USSSA Select 30 National Training Camp this weekend in Las Vegas, NV.

I had an amazing first day at USSSA Select 30 National Training Camp! To begin my day, I checked in where I received my jerseys. After everyone was checked in, we started with ODM testing.
They evaluated my 40-yard dash, agility shuttle, broad jump, throwing velocity, grip strength and they analyzed my swing (exit velocity along with other metrics using Blast Motion).
During our evaluations there was a lot of waiting and so I got to introduce myself to others. I made some friends and was able to meet people, who are from all over the country!
After testing, we went inside where we got to meet our teams. We all introduced ourselves and talked about how the rest of this weekend is going to look. I am very excited to spend the rest of my time here with my coach and teammates!
To end today we had our keynote speaker, who was Delaney Spaulding. I loved having the opportunity to be able to listen and learn from Delaney.
My three takeaways from Delaney were:
- Your teammates are your best friends and you will go through everything with them.
- You always have to have faith and softball will take you wherever you want it to take you.
- The last thing that Delaney shared was that softball does not define us.
