Today was my third day at S30 and it was a blast! Today’s schedule consisted of classroom sessions in the morning, 1 pool game and the Home Run Derby!
The first session we did this morning was speed and agility with USSSA Pride player Jayln Ford. She took us through a bunch of cool stretches and mobility drills that she learned while playing in Japan. This was a great first station to get our blood pumping. Jayln also took us through some arm care.
The next station was advanced hitting. Here we sat down with Pride players and (a) former UCLA player and talked about hitting and team offense. We were given a lot of great information and tips for both the mental and physical side of hitting. We also talked about the importance of awesome mindset while in the box and understand which kind of hitting YOU are to better understand your job in the box.
The third station we went to was “A Day in the Life with Ali Aguilar!” She talked to us about what her days looked like while in college for both offseason and in season. Then she moved on to telling us about her days while playing for the Pride team. I learned a lot about what to expect when I get to college when it comes to being a student athlete!

The fourth station was nutrition. This station was ran by our team’s coaches — Skylar and Makenzie Ball. This taught us the importance of not only working out, but learning the form first. We also were talked to about all of the resources we will have in college. We will be provided with athletic trainers and nutritionist, which they said we should take full advantage of while we have them.
The fifth and last station we went to was media day with Haley Cruse. This station was my personal favorite and it was so much fun. We got to mess around with our teammates and take fun pictures. I tried out a bunch of different poses and it all felt so cool! It was also fun to talk to Hayley and see what her “go-to” poses were for her media days.

After we finished all five stations we had a nice long break before our 2:30 p.m. game. I went out with my mom and we explored some more sights while also grabbing some lunch. We then went back to the field and got all warmed up for the game. We unfortunately lost but it was a great effort.
Lastly, after our game ended, we had another break before the final event of the night, which was the Home Run Derby. I am so honored to say I was chose to represent our age group amongst five other girls. Not only did we get to hit against each other once they pulled the top two from each age group, (but) we got to hit against the Pride girls. I went into a tiebreaker round with one of the other girls, which I ended up winning, making me the Home Run Derby champ for our age group! I was also told this meant I would be put in the final S30 game tomorrow afternoon!
