Avery Gehrke’s Day 3 USSSA Select 30 Blog (Feb. 19, 2023)

Athletics Mercado AZ 2026 MIF/OF Avery Gehrke is at the USSSA Select 30 National Training Camp this weekend in Las Vegas, NV.

Here’s her blog from Day 3, Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023.

I had another amazing day at the USSSA Select 30 National Training Camp. Today we had speed and agility, classroom sessions, media, a game and the Home Run Derby!

We started off at speed and agility with Jailyn Ford. She had us do lots of mobility. We also did a drill where we mirrored our partner, which was my favorite part.

Next we had our classroom sessions. We had three classroom sessions, which were advanced hitting, day in the life and nutrition and recovery. The USSSA Pride coaches who ran these sessions were Delaney Spaulding, Abbey Cheek and Ali Aguilar. I really enjoyed these sessions because they went into specific detail about each subject. I took many pieces of advice that I will keep with me to help me become the best player I can be.

After the classroom sessions was media with Haley Cruse. We had the opportunity to take pictures and a video with the USSSA Pride media crew. This was an amazing experience and was so much fun.

Next we had our game. Today we only played one game. During this game our team played well once again and we have all become really close in this short amount of time.

To end the day we had the Home Run Derby. I did not compete in this, but it was very fun to be able to watch others compete against the professionals. Congratulations to the champions and finalists who came out on top!

I had a great day and couldn’t be more excited to see what’s in store for our final day tomorrow!
