
Breaking: Meet the Leaders of USA Softball
USA Softball has announced the election of eight new board members, who will serve through the year of 2026. These individuals bring a diverse range of experience and leadership to the organization, ensuring continued growth and success in all areas of the sport. The appointments reflect a careful selection process aimed at strengthening USA Softball’s governance and supporting athletes at every level.
The USA Softball Nominating and Governing Committee oversees the selection of At-Large and Independent members, while Regional Vice Presidents are chosen by council members from their respective regions. Athlete Representatives are elected by the Athletes Advisory Council to advocate for player interests. Additionally, Aubrey Leach and Nick Mullins have been elected as Team USA Athletes’ Commission representatives for the 2025-2028 quadrennium.

Newly Elected USA Softball Board Members
The following individuals have been appointed to the USA Softball Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 term:
- Region 1 Vice President: Tony Gowell (replacing Bev Wiley)
- Region 9 Vice President: Rick Hansen (replacing Roger Garcia)
- At-Large Member: Beverly Wiley (replacing Donn Addante)
- Independent Member: Jari Askins (replacing David James)
- Athlete Representative: Aubrey Leach (replacing Michelle Moultrie)
- Athlete Representative: Blaine Milheim (replacing Cam Schiller)
- Athlete Representative: Zac Shaw (replacing Lovie Jung)
- Athlete Representative: Mike Lewis (replacing Josh Johnson)
These leaders bring a strong combination of athletic expertise, governance experience, and passion for the game. Their involvement will help USA Softball navigate key initiatives and support the sport’s rapid expansion across the country.

Commitment to Growth and Athlete Representation
Athlete representation remains a priority for USA Softball. Newly elected Athlete Representative Zac Shaw expressed excitement about the opportunity to contribute to the sport in a new way.

Responsibilities of the USA Softball Board
The USA Softball Board of Directors consists of 24 members, including:
- A President, President-Elect, and Immediate Past President
- 10 Regional Vice Presidents
- Eight Athlete Representatives
- One At-Large Director
- One Independent Director
- One Affiliated Organization Director
Throughout their term, board members participate in monthly virtual meetings and attend the Annual Council Meeting, where they discuss strategic initiatives, rule changes, and player development programs. Their decision-making directly impacts the future of USA Softball, from grassroots programs to elite international competition.
