Christi Musser, Charleston Southern Announce Buccaneers 2024 Schedule

2024 Schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Head coach Christi Musser and the Charleston Southern softball team announced their 2024 spring schedule as her team prepares for the upcoming campaign starting in February.

The schedule consists of 49 games, including 25 at home and 24 on the road as well as four tournaments in the non conference. They will host two tournaments to start the year and wrap up the nonconference slate with two tournaments on the road.

The season begins on Feb. 8, when the Bucs host East Carolina to get them ready for the annual CSU Kickoff Tournament, which will take place Feb. 9-11 and will feature five teams. The Bucs will kick off the tournament with two games on the first day, as they will host Bellarmine at 3 p.m. and St. Francis at 5:30. On Feb. 10, they will host Sienna at 3 p.m. before their finale with St. Francis to follow. Then, they will wrap up the tournament with Bellarmine at 12 p.m. on Feb. 11.

The following week, Charleston Southern will host the Blue/Gold Classic Feb. 16-18. The Buccaneers will take on St. John’s  at 3 p.m. before playing UMass Lowell in the night cap. On Feb. 17, the Buccaneers will play the two teams again starting with UMass Lowell at 3 p.m. and St. John’s to follow.

Charleston Southern hits the road for the first time the weekend of Feb. 23-25, when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to participate in the Florida State Tournament. The will begin play on Feb. 23 against Nicholls at 10 a.m. and Florida International at 5:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. on Feb. 24. The Bucs will wrap up the second day with a battle against the Florida State Seminoles at 5:30. The final game will be on Feb. 25 against Nicholls at 10 a.m.

After a week on the road, the Bucs will begin the month of March with a three-game series against Northern Kentucky March 2-4. The teams will play at 1 p.m. on March 2 and March 3, while the final game of the series will be at 5 p.m. on March 4.

The Bucs will play in one more tournament, when they travel to Greensboro, N.C. to participate in the UNC Greensboro Tournament. The tournament will be March 9-10, as Charleston Southern will play Merrimack at 10 a.m. and UMass at 12:30 p.m. on the first day. On the final day, the Bucs will take on UMBC at 12:30 p.m. and wrap up the tournament against UNCG at 5:30 p.m.

Wofford comes to Charleston in their inaugural season the weekend of March 15-16, as the two teams will play at 5 p.m. on March 15 before a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. the following day. Then, the Bucs will host Georgia Tech on March 19 for a mid-week battle before conference play begins.

Charleston Southern will begin Big South play with a three-game series against USC Upstate March 22-23. The series begins on March 22 at 5 p.m. and will conclude with a doubleheader on March 23 beginning at 1 p.m. On March 27, the Bucs travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.

After beginning conference play at home, Charleston Southern will spend the next two weeks on the road, as they wrap up the month of March with a three-game series against Gardner-Webb beginning with a doubleheader at 3 p.m. on March 29. The series will conclude at 12 p.m. on March 30. After that, the Bucs will begin April with a three-game series against Presbyterian College on Apr. 5-6. They will have one game at 6 p.m. on April 5 and a doubleheader against the Blue Hose beginning at 1 p.m. on April 6.

The Bucs will conclude their road trip with two against Coastal Carolina beginning at 3 p.m. in Conway before coming back home for the next four games. They will get back into conference play with a weekend series against Radford on April 13-14. The two teams will play a doubleheader on April 13 and conclude the series with a single game on April 14.

Then the Bucs host crosstown rival College of Charleston in the midweek on April 16. at 5 p.m.

The Bucs will travel to Rock Hill, S.C. April 19-20 to take on Winthrop in a three-game series. April 19 will be a single game at 6 p.m. while April 20 features a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The Bucs wrap up the regular season at home with a three-game series against Longwood, the runner-ups in the Big South Tournament last year, on April 27-28. The two teams will play a doubleheader on April 27 and finish the regular season with a single game on April 28.

The Big South Tournament will be hosted by Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C. beginning on May 8 and continuing through May 11. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

The 2024 Charleston Southern softball teams returns pitchers Annah Junge and Riley Lauffer from last year and also welcomes back Blake Holtorf who missed all of 2023 with an injury. The Bucs also return eight players who saw game action last season as well as 10 newcomers, including eight freshman and two transfers.
