Our team at Extra Inning Softball is asking ourselves does our content better align with our new EIS 2.0 initiative?
Empower, inspire and support are easy words to throw around. Just about any women’s sports or movements that are trying make a difference use the word EMPOWER. We almost didn’t use it when creating our new mission because it teeters on the edge of overuse and under practiced. But there really isn’t a better word to describe the passion behind our new initiative. Today we delve into the word empower.
The Dictionary describes empower/ empowerment/ empowering as the following.
give (someone) authority or strength to do something; make something stronger and more confident, assisting in someone controlling their life or claiming their rights. A feeling of accomplishment after doing a task or facing a fear.
Empowering isn’t something that can be done by reading about it and then doing nothing or talking about it but making no effort to assist. It requires action. It’s lending a hand, providing tools and resources to help others move forward or grow. Plain and simple TRUE EMPOWERING involves some sacrifice and “getting your hands dirty”.
The EIS 2.0 initiative is not a “rebrand” it’s a movement of empowerment.
Our group of fierce women believe in “getting our hands dirty” to empower ourselves and our EIS2.0 family. We are holding ourselves to a higher standard of content we provide and data we put together. We are seeking to empower our members through education. Not just fluff content or reporting what’s going on in softball but seeking out experts for insight, asking hard question and giving young ball players the truth about the sacrifices athletes make to continue their career. Be honest about the work it requires and most importantly offer examples, templates, links to helpful websites along with countless other relevant tools to give players every opportunity to grow in all aspect of their life and their game.
