A Message from CEO: Bonnie Holland: Ties vs. No Ties
Regarding the issue of ties that took place under previous management between 2018-2023, CEO, Bonnie Holland explains,
The newly formed Extra Inning Softball Rankings Committee has done away with ties in an effort to provide an accurate scope of where players are truly ranked. Ties are viewed as a ‘people-pleasing’ tactic according to countless coaches and organizational leaders we have consulted with across the country. For example, in 2023, previous management placed 563 players in the Class of 2024 Extra Elite 100 rankings. If you are looking to have your child ranked favorably and you do not care about ties, then EIS is not the right fit for you. If however, you want a team of unanimous professionals to review/determine rankings and provide a more accurate ranking, be sure to nominate your players during our open submission period.
In 2023, 100 players were ranked in the top 28 for the Class of 2028!
Holland continues,
There is no excuse for ranking 100 players in the top 28 – it completely underscores the purpose of providing an accurate ranking. Thankfully, ties are a thing of the past at EIS. We have already made several positive changes to rankings over the last several months and there are many more to come!
- In 2024, the Extra Inning Softball Rankings Committee has grown from one member to seven.
- All committee remain unanimous to protect the validity of the process and to avoid bias influence.
- We review nominations over the course of three weeks, (not one as in times past).
- The committee is made up of women who have all played/coach at high levels of the game (D1 & Pro).
- We have identified coaches/leaders all over the country who provide reliable feedback from each of the six regions.
