Club Event: Players to Watch at The Tulsa Elite Invite

Isabella “Isa” Torres is one of several standouts from the Texas Bombers who will be in Tulsa through the weekend.

The 9th Annual Tulsa Elite Summer Invite Tournament kicked off on Thursday as one of the premier club showcases of the summer with 96 elite teams and players attending in the 16U and 14U age divisions.

Extra Inning Softball is at the event held at Arrowhead Park in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. We’re here through the weekend to evaluate the talent, both committed and non-committed, to see who are the top players in their classes.

Thunderstorms and heavy rains in the Tulsa, Oklahoma-area aside, this weekend brings together a ton of talent and you know how college coaches make a game plan on who to checkout based on teams and when they’re playing?

That’s what we’re doing too… and here are just some of the players taking the fields who are already drawing attention and are on the radar of not just us, but college coaches around the nation.

So in no particular order…

*****

Missouri So Cal Athletics 16U

* P/OF Paige Bedsworth is a power hitter who can spin her riseball at 30 rps. She has over 500 strikeouts in high school ball in the two years played. Has been a key player that can fill any role needed on the team.

* P/1B Kari Holzrichter is a lefty power hitter. Has proven herself as one of the most powerful hitters in the Midwest. She carries an above .500 batting average with double digit home runs in just 5 tournaments. Her exit velocity is 75 mph. Great best mental approach to the game; getting looks by top D1 colleges for her bat.

* OF/MIF Braylee Adams is a very tough kid, always battles through adversity. When she’s in your line-up she is going to find a way on, whether its bunting, slapping or hitting with power. A triple threat when she’s up to bat; 5-tool athlete.

KC Zephyrs 14U Brumley

* P/1B Bailey Brumley has a fastball that consistently hits 58-59, but does tap 60 mph on occasion.  She also throws two different changeups that come in anywhere from 42-46 mph. Also has a drop, drop curve, screw ball and rise ball in her tool belt.  At 1B, Bailey’s 5-foot-10 frame gives her infielders a big target and her glove is well above average.

* C/3B Taylor Howe is the prototypical C/3B. She is short, stocky and strong. At catcher, she does a great job working with her pitchers and calling her own game. She understands the game and situations that well and has earned the trust of her coaches to take on that role. Great glove and frames the ball well, but perhaps her best attribute behind the plate is her ability to block a ball in the dirt.

* SS  Emma Horton is a long-legged shortstop who covers a lot of ground on the infield.  She is a gritty player who can cover nearly the whole left side and has the arm to shoot down runners from deep in the hole.  Offensively, Emma is another force in the lineup who cannot be pitched around.
