Club Event Recap: Scenic City 16U Division… Perfection in the Super Bracket; a Nail-Biter in the Open Bracket!

The Scenic City Summer Showcase allowed over 300 teams to showcase their stuff across six sets of fields in southern Tennessee over the weekend and created for quite the interesting finales

We’re going over each of the four divisions and recapping the action from over the weekend, including a very competitive 16U division that saw a bunch of surprises across the landscape.

Florida Gold – John took the Super Bracket Championship, while Indiana Magic Gold – Mendenhall/Trine fought off a heck of a run from Team Pennsylvania ’04 to win the Open Bracket.

Out of all the divisions in Chattanooga, the 16U one might have been the most action-packed and exciting one between the Super Bracket and the 16U Open Bracket; here’s what went down on Sunday’s bracket play, with all pool winners given a shoutout at the end of the article…

16U Super Bracket

In the Supers, Florida Gold – John continued a perfect run all the way through bracket play to go 9-0 on the weekend. A 5-0 win over Vexus HOH 16U – Watson led into a semifinal battle with D1Vision Softball 16U Premier that saw Florida Gold down 2-1 heading into the fourth.

Kiera Morris singled to the right side to score a pair, giving her side the lead, then Abbey Taylor-Bolt tripled to center to score Morris after a pitching change. Irianis Garcia singled home Taylor-Bolt in the next at-bat, giving Florida Gold a four-spot in the fourth to take down D1Vision, 5-2.
