Justin’s College Softball “Mid-Major” Top 10 for Week 10

National College Softball Editor Justin McLeod’s “Mid-Major” Top 10 is here following Week 10 action.

San Diego State vaults into the top spot after a series win over Boise State; the Aztecs recorded their second straight series victory over teams in the top portion of the Mountain West standings.

Checking in at their highest ranking of the year is Weber State, who jump to #2 in this week’s rankings. The Wildcats remain undefeated in Big Sky Conference play.

Moving up to #3 in this week’s rankings is Loyola Marymount. The West Coast Conference leaders moved to 5-1 in league play and boast a quality RPI thanks to an early non-conference schedule that included some top teams.

Western Kentucky represents Conference USA solely in this week’s rankings. The Hilltoppers are tied atop the CUSA East standings and enjoyed a bye week in Week 10.

The hard-hitting ways of UNC Greensboro have continued this season, and the Spartans move to #5 in this week’s rankings. The Spartans are a spotless 12-0 in conference play.

Liberty also moves up in this week’s rankings, to #6 overall. The Flames dropped a midweek affair to Virginia Tech, but swept Florida Gulf Coast in a weekend series.

Top 10 mainstay UNLV checks in at #7 in this week’s rankings; the Rebels won the series against San Jose State this weekend to remain in the upper portion of the Mountain West.

Boston U appears in the Top 10 for the first time this season. The Terriers are riding a 19-game winning streak and are 9-0 in Patriot League play.

Returning to the Top 10 after popping in earlier in the season is North Florida. The Ospreys have the second-highest win total among teams in the top 10.

Finishing out the Week 10 Top 10 is USC Upstate. After being ranked #1 last week, the Spartans suffered a back-breaking run-rule loss to Charleston Southern to open their weekend series. The Spartans rebounded to win the series and became the first D1 team to reach 40 wins on the year, but the gravity of that loss dropped them several spots in this week’s rankings.
