D1Vision Death Valley Invitational Scheduled for June

The Death Valley Invitational, one of the top events on the D1Vision schedule, is currently accepting registration for this premiere event.

The semi annual event will be held on June 28-30, 2024 at the Traction Sports Complex in Baton Rouge, La., and feature competition in 14U, 16U and 18U divisions.

Over 30 college coaches have already committed to the event and that number will increase substantially.

Each age division will feature approximately 15 teams playing at one park on the seven turf fields, which allows for maximum exposure.

Death Valley Invitational

Pool Play Rules

  • Showcase Games 14U/16U/18U 80 min finish the batter
  • Run Rules 12 after 3, 10 after 4 and 8 after 5

  • Free Defensive substitutions throughout 

  • You may bat a minimum of 9 & no maximum number of hitters. The integrity of the line-up must remain throughout the game

  • Showcase games, courtesy run for pitcher/catcher only

  • All bats must follow USSSA guidelines and have USSSA thumbprint. The penalty for stepping in the batter’s box with an illegal bat is both the player & head coach are ejected from the game

  •  A coin flip will be held before the game to determine the home team. The Official Scorekeeper will be designated by the home team

  • All teams must have their roster and team insurance uploaded and submitted Saturday June 20th

  • No Players, Parents, or Spectators will be allowed in the “College Coaches Only” designated areas. This also includes the Hospitality area (Administration Building) and the umpires’ tent/area

  • All pitching plates will be set at 43 feet

  • No step back is allowed with the stride foot. A pitcher’s stride foot may be on or behind the pitchers plate as far back as desired. Once the pitcher initially sets the toe of their stride foot, they may not move that foot in any direction prior to the steps/ stride and delivery

  • Players are not allowed to wear metal cleats. Molded cleats or turf shoes only

  • Last available player may be used as a courtesy runner for the pitcher or catcher, in addition to substitutions

  • Last available player is defined as the player in the batting order, not in the field of play, that is furthest from coming to bat

  • Defensive substitutions may be made without reporting to the umpire

  • Batters hit by pitch may take a “Ball” and continue at bat

  • Walked batters must take their base and may have a sub runner if taking another at bat for showcase purposes

  • Pool play games may end in a tie

Bracket Play 

  • Bracket Games 14U/16U/18U 80 min finish the inning

  • Run Rules 12 after 3, 10 after 4 and 8 after 5

  • Free Defensive substitutions throughout 

  • You may bat a minimum of 9 & no maximum number of hitters (any combination of DP, EPs, and Flex)

  • Last available player may be used as a courtesy runner for the pitcher or catcher, in addition to substitutions

  • Last available player is defined as the player in the batting order, not in the field of play, that is furthest from coming to bat

  • In the result of a tie you will enter into international tiebreaker
