Dreams Come True on the Diamond as Sydney Hastings Heads to Michigan

Sydney Hastings, a 2025 catcher and shortstop for Firecrackers Wallace 16u, committed to the University of Michigan, her dream school, on Oct. 18, 2023.

Like many other softball players, Hastings got her start in the local rec league. When she was 8 years old, she began playing shortstop for the Saline Stingerz, the 10u team in her hometown. It was during this time that she truly fell in love with the game of softball. She started catching a year later with Finesse, a team she played on for two years.

While she was playing for Finesse, Hastings met her best friend and pitcher Kaitlyn Pallozzi, and the two have been playing together ever since. Hastings is extremely thankful for Pallozzi’s friendship and support.

After her time with Finesse, Hastings joined Texas Glory and Coach Tarrah Beyster. She continues to work with Beyster and credits her former coach with helping her get to where she is today.
