The PGF Super Select Southern Championship was held Friday-Sunday in Hoover, AL. Here are some of Sunday’s highlights:
THUNDERBOLTS-BRASHEARS CAPTURES 14U PLATINUM TITLE
Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2028-Brashears took down Frost Falcons 09, 4-0, in the 14U Platinum championship game of the PGF Super Select Southern Championship on Sunday at Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, AL
2028 2B Abbey Crockett (.647 AVG, 3 doubles, 3 triples, 7 RBIs), 2028 C Hatsumi Peterson (.556 AVG, 5 runs), 2029 C Samantha Johnson (.500 AVG, 5 RBIs), 2028 P Kendra Stewart (14 IP, 18 Ks), and 2028 1B Mackenzie Cotton (Had 1B on lockdown, making some tone-setting scoops) led Thunderbolts-Brashears in he tournament.
Thunderbolts-Brashears beat Top Gun 09-Adams, 10-0, TN Thunderbolts 2-27-West, 5-1, White Lightning 09, 9-0, and Frost Falcons 09, 4-0, in bracket play.
SSG SOX 2010 CLAIM 12U PREMIER CROWN
SSG Sox 2010 came out of the loser’s bracket and avenged its lone loss with a 2-1 victory over LA Bombers 2010 National-Roach in the 12U Premier championship game on Sunday at Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, AL.
The SSG Sox defeated TN Bombers 2010-Williford, 6-1, EC Bullets 2010, 1-0, Birmingham Vipers 2010, 7-1, lost to LA Bombers 2010 National-Roach, 3-2, and beat Top Gun 2010-Velotta, 8-1, and LA Bombers 2010 National-Roach, 2-1, in bracket play.
IMPACT-CLEGHORN RALLIES TO WIN 12U PLATINUM TITLE
2029 P Rozilynn Cox pitched 4 scoreless innings with two strikeouts and 2029 CF Trinity Hargrett went 3 for 3 with two RBIs as Georgia Impact Premier 11-Cleghorn beat Alabama Sparks Elite 2011, 5-4, in the 12U Platinum championship game of the PGF Super Select Southern Championship on Sunday at Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, AL.
2029 P/UT Hartley Hurt hit .562 and pitched 13.2 innings recording one win and two saves with a 1.02 ERA, 2029 2B Mackenzie Fritsch hit .476 with a team-high nine runs, Cox recorded three wins with a 0.00 ERA, and 2030 P Ally Halstead also recorded three wins with a 1.00 ERA to lead Thunderbolts-Brashears for the tournament.
Impact-Cleghorn defeated Birmingham Giants 2011, 3-2, Atlanta Premier Elite 2011-Bass, 2-1, Impact Gold 2011-Holmes, 3-1, lost to Alabama Sparks Elite 2011, 4-2, and beat Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2029, 2-1, and Alabama Sparks Elite 2011, 5-4, in bracket play.
MIDDLE GEORGIA ELITE WINS 10U PREMIER TITLE
Middle Georgia Elite 2012 defeated Kentucky Chrome 2012 twice, including a 5-4 victory over Chrom in the 10U Premier championship game, in the PGF Super Select Southern Championship on Sunday at Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, AL.
2030 P Madelyn Thomas and 2030 C Camilla English were standouts for Middle Georgia Elite.
Middle Georgia Elite knocked off TN Thunderbolts 2030, 4-0, KY Chrome 2012, 2-1, Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2039, 6-5, and KT Chrome 2012, 5-4, in bracket play.
