Event Preview: 2024 Top Club National Championship

Celebrating its sixth year in 2024, the Top Club National Championship has quickly grown into a must-attend event on the summer club schedule. Combining a very competitive field and top prize money in three divisions has lured the top teams in the country to Oklahoma.

Extra Inning Softball caught up with Event Director Cornelius Davis to learn more about the Top Club National Championship….

How long has the Top Club National Championship been held?
The Top Club National Championship is celebrating its sixth year as a premier youth softball event. Each age group, from 14U to 18U, competes for a grand prize of $10,000.00. Over the past five years, we’ve awarded over $175,000.00 in this event alone

In your opinion, what makes the Top Club National Championship such a coveted event to compete in for teams, players and coaches?
This event attracts Top 100 United States club teams nationwide. Notable past participants have included AFCS Champions, OC Batbusters Stith, Ed Naudin’s Texas Glory, Athletics Mercado and Georgia Impact Lewis. In addition to the outstanding field of teams, this event attracts many of the top Division I, Division II, NAIA and JUCO programs

What is the format of the tournament and the prizes for those who finish on top?
The tournament consists of play in 14U, 16U and 18U divisions and the prize structure is as follows. First-place finishers (14U-18U) will received $10,000.00 and a team trophy, second place receives (14U-18U) $3,000.00 and a team trophy and third-place finishers will receive free entry to the 2025 championship

What is the cost for the Top Club National Championship?
The cost for teams in the 14U, 16U and 18U divisions is $1,995 per team

What about the format, facilities or other ingredients makes this event one to attend?
The Top Club National Championship attracts top club teams from across the country and is designed to emulate a Women’s College World Series atmosphere. Power pool games and championship play are hosted at the Love’s Field at the University of Oklahoma and we also use the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian softball facilities. The event starts with a pool play schedule that means something as pool play seeds your team team into mini double-elimination brackets. The top eight teams continue on to play a single-elimination championship bracket
