Event Preview: The Select 30 National Training Camp Set for Dec. 27-30, 2019  

The prestigious Select 30 program returns for the 2019-2020 edition and kicks off the new year with the Select 30 National Training Camp scheduled for December 27-30, 2019 at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, Florida.

Extra Inning Softball has announced a partnership with the Select 30 program and will be covering and promoting the National Training Camp as well as using information gathered during the workouts and games to make future Extra Elite 100 decisions.

“I have been impressed with the Select 30 program since its inception,” Brentt Eads, Extra Inning Softball President/Executive Editor, said today. “The quality of athletes who have attended has been verified with how they’ve gone on and succeeded at major college programs nationwide. The instruction plus the exposure for these players has been outstanding and to rub elbows with the USSSA Pride players is invaluable too.”

Designed for approximately 300 of the top fastpitch players in the 2020-to-2025 grad years, the Select 30 has included top prospects who have gone on to play at Power 5 schools across the nation in conferences like the ACC, Big 10, Big 12 and SEC.

Some of the previous attendees have included Skylar Wallace (Alabama), Mia Davidson (Mississippi State), Cheyenne Lindsay (Florida), Natalie Lugo (Florida), Jourdyn Campbell (A&M) and Sharlize Palacios (Arizona).

The four-day event will include athlete assessments, softball-specific training, classroom sessions with USSSA Pride players (see list below), games and competitions, player evaluations (including information to assist in Extra Inning Softball player rankings) and media coverage and exposure.

After taking the year off in 2018, USSSA is bringing back Select 30 to be bigger and better than ever.

“I am excited to relaunch the Select 30 program which starts with our first event — the Select 30 National Training Camp this December,” says Jami Lobpries, Ph.D, National Director of USSSA Fastpitch. “I think it’s important for these elite players to get as much preparation for the next level as possible.”

“We’re going to put them through training on and off the field that will give them a glimpse of the college game,” Lobpries continues. “It’s more than just playing games on the field! With the help of our Pride players and current college players, we are going to give these athletes tools that will prepare them for everything today’s college game brings — media, mental toughness, sport specific training, pressure, and competition.”

Young athletes who would like to be considered to attend the Select 30 can be invited in one of four ways: being an All American Games Direct Selects participant; former attendee from the 2016 or 2017 Select 30 events; coach nominations and honorees of one of the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 or 2024 Extra Elite 100’s.
