Many of the top 14U, 16U and 18U club teams in the country were at the PGF Shootout this weekend in Orange County, CA. Here are Sunday’s highlights:
HOTSHOTS-NELSON TAKES DOWN TOP TEAMS AT PGF SHOOTOUT
The first big test of the fall season came at the PGF Shootout and Hotshots National-Nelson passed with straight As, winning the 18U title this weekend in Orange County, CA.
Nate Nelson’s Hotshots defeated Sorcerer-Gabales/Rodriguez, 12-4, in the championship game on Sunday at Huntington Beach Sports Complex.
LSU-committed 2023 RF Maddox McKee, Alabama-committed 2024 C/3B Kennedy Marceaux, 2024 1B Emily Smith and Florida-committed 2023 SS Mia Williams all homered for the Hotshots in the finals. Florida-committed 2023 CF Cassidy McLellan went 1 for 2 with two stolen bases, two runs and an RBI and Florida-committed 2023 P/1B Ava Brown went 2 for 3 in the title game.
Notre Dame-committed 2023 RHP Kamryn Kamzik pitched two scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts to close out the game and lock down the victory for the Hotshots.
McLellan hit .500 with six stolen bases, 10 runs and six RBIs, Baylor-committed 2024 OF Karynton Dawson batted .500 with three stolen bases, four runs and six RBIs and Florida State-committed 2023 MIF/UT/OF Isabella “Isa” Torres hit .409 with two homers, four stolen bases, eight runs and seven RBIs for the tournament to lead the Hotshots.
The Hotshots beat Athletics Jendro Premier, 4-0, So Cal Choppers-Fausett, 8-0, NW Bullets0Campos, 12-3, Beverly Bandits Premier-Conroy, 8-0, and Sorcerer-Gabales/Rodriguez, 12-4. in bracket play.
BEVERLY BANDITS-HOLLOWAY WINS THE 16U TITLE AT THE PGF SHOOTOUT
Beverly Bandits Premier-Holloway took down Power Surge-Berndes/Trammell, 9-3, in the 16U final on Sunday at Fountain Valley Sports Park.
2024 RHP/1B Danika Frazier had a 1.81 ERA and allowed 11 hits in 19.1 innings, 2025 RBHP/1B Elena Krause had a 0.46 ERA and gave up three hits in 15.1 innings, 2025 SS/IF Tru Medina batted .577 with a .607 OBP and 2024 CF/2B Nina Pesare batted .421 with a .450 OBP to lead Bandits-Holloway for the tournament.
Bandits-Holloway defeated AASA-Nelson/Mortimer, 2-0, Firecrackers Premier-RTY, 9-1, Texas Sudden Impact-Jones, 6-4, Hotshots National-Esparza, 2-1, and Power Surge-Berndes/Trammell. 9-3, in bracket play.
TEXAS SUDDEN IMPACT-SENECA BEATS COMPETITION AT PGF SHOOTOUT
2027 P/OF Taylor Holub belted a three-run home run to help Texas Sudden Impact-Seneca beat Hotshots National-Galloway, 9-3, in the 14U championship game on Sunday at Yorba Regional Park.
2026 1B/P Jocelyn Orosco went 2 for 3 with an RBI, 2027 1B/C Aubrey Jones went 1 for 2 with an RBI and 2027 2B/OF Karsyn Carrier went 1 for 3 with an RBI for Sudden Impact in the championship game.
Holub batted .429 with two homers and eight RBIs, Orosco hit .381 with four RBIs, 2027 1B/OF Addyson Gibbons batted .353, 2027 CF/IF/SS/UT Ava Bennett hit .300. with a game-winning hit against the Bandits and 2026 P Isabelle Hooper went 4-0 with a 1.47 ERA and 26 Ks in 23 innings for Sudden Impact for the tournament.
Sudden Impact defeated Beverly Bandits Premier-Chow/Hardin, 2-1, Firecrackers Premier-TJ/Franco, 7-6, Universal Fastpitch 2027, 6-0, and Hotshots National-Galloway, 9-3, in bracket play.
