(Updated) Event Recap: LLG DPS-Corn, Bandits-Holloway Victorious at Scenic City (Nov. 6, 2022)

Many of the top club teams in the country went to Dalton, GA, just south of Chattanooga, TN, this weekend for the Scenic City Fall Showcase. Here are some of Sunday’s highlights:

LLG DPS-CORN KNOCKS OFF SELECT FASTPITCH IN 18U FINAL AT SCENIC CITY

LLG DPS-Corn defeated Select Fastpitch-Jones, 3-1, to capture the Top 25 18U championship at the Scenic City Fall Showcase on Sunday at Westside Park in Rocky Face, GA.

The offensive was lead by LSU-committed 2024 C Jada Phillips, South Carolina-committed 2024 3B Karley Shelton, uncommitted-2024 C/OF Brooke Masingale and uncommitted-2025 P/UT Ansley Bennett. Each had HRs along with Michigan State-committed 2023 Payton Conroy for a total of 10 on the weekend, with Shelton leading the way with five. b The team combined for 58 run and nine wins.

The pitching was stellar with Liberty-committed 2024 P Katie Love, East Carolina-committed 2023 RHP Taylor Apple, North Carolina-committed 2024 RHP Alex Bacher and Western Illinnois-committed 2023 RHP Lillie Wools sharing the load. This group recorded 82 strikeouts in 57 innings with a .994 WHIP and a .194 batting average against.

The defense stayed clean with a .990 fielding percentage, turning nine double plays throughout the weekend.

John Corn’s LLG DPS team beat Turnin2-Maloney, 3-1, Extreme Elite National, 10-0, Georgia Impact Premier 2-Caymol, 6-2, and Select Fastpitch-Jones, 3-1, in bracket play.

BANDITS STOP BOLTS IN 16U FINAL AT SCENIC CITY

Beverly Bandits Premier-Holloway continued its strong fall showing by beating Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2024-Kaplan, 5-4, in the Top 25 16U final at the Scenic City Fall Showcase on Sunday at Edwunsards Park in Dalton, GA.

2024 3B Caroline O’Brien went 2 for 2 with a double, two runs and an RBI and 2024 RHP Danika Frazier struck out seven in 5.0 innings for the Bandits in the final.

Frazier went 4-0 with 26 strikeouts in 21 innings, O’Brien .550 with a .591 OBP and 2024 CF/2B Nina Pesare hit .532 with a .562 OBP for the tournament.

Seth Holloway’s Bandits defeated Georgia Impact Premier-Maher, 6-0, Illinois Chill Gold, 5-2, Beverly Bandits Premier-Moran, 4-1, Tampa Mustangs-Ray, 11-2, and Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2024-Kaplan, 5-4, in bracket play.
