Hello softball community, this is Brentt Eads of Extra Inning Softball.
We’ve had a lot of folks reach out this week inquiring about the next round of player rankings, which will be the 2024 Extra Elite 100 (as well as #’s 101-500 and the 2024 Position Rankings)
Originally, the ‘24’s were scheduled to begin in a week or so but we’re pushing that rankings launch back to mid-August—Monday, August 16, 2021—for two main reasons:
1. The main one is, as many of you know by now, that our Editor Carlos Arias had a significant stroke on May 14 and continues to recover in a hospital in California (he was able sit up in bed and brush his own teeth earlier this week so we’re excited about each step back in his recovery!).
Losing his immeasurable skills and contributions has led to our staff having to spread out his regular responsibilities, including me overseeing the recent creation and publishing of the 14U Club Rankings.
2. Another key one: our staff will be traveling to many top club events including Top Gun and Team 1 this week, Top Club next week, Colorado and Atlanta Legacy and many more in the upcoming months.
We can catch our breath and evaluate players and teams more freely now that the 2024 class launch won’t be weighing on us in the short term.
As for a deadline for the 2024 Extra Elite 100 info, please have your nominations and recommendations to us no later than August 1, 2021 to be guaranteed they will be evaluated.
Pushing this class back a month and a half will obviously impact future deadlines for player rankings… here are the new projected launch dates for the rest of the ’21 year and through 2022:

- Class of 2026 – March 7th
- Class of 2025 – May 16th

- Class of 2023 – September 19th
- Class of 2028 – November 7
