Expanding High School Softball Coverage
In an exciting partnership that is set to elevate the profile of high school softball across the nation, Extra Inning Softball and MaxPreps are joining forces to bring more attention, recognition, and coverage to the sport. This new collaboration will shine a spotlight on high school athletes, showcasing their talents and hard work on a national stage. The goal is to not only increase visibility for high school softball players but also create a platform that amplifies the excitement and energy of the high school season, while providing opportunities for athletes to be celebrated in meaningful ways.
The Partnership: A Game-Changer for High School Softball
MaxPreps, known for its extensive coverage of high school sports, and Extra Inning Softball, a key player in the world of softball coverage, are coming together with a singular purpose—to give high school softball the recognition it deserves. MaxPreps has a rich history of providing comprehensive coverage and rankings across all sports, offering valuable insights and analysis to athletes, coaches, and fans alike. Their commitment to shining a spotlight on high school sports aligns perfectly with Extra Inning Softball’s mission to grow the game of softball at all levels.
Since its inception, Extra Inning Softball has been at the forefront of developing and promoting the sport of softball. From providing recruiting tools to offering top-tier coverage of events, EIS has built a community of players, coaches, and fans dedicated to advancing the game. This partnership with MaxPreps marks a significant milestone in their ongoing efforts to elevate softball to the next level.
Together, the two organizations will increase coverage of the high school softball season, starting the second week of March and running bi-weekly through June. The coverage will focus on celebrating individual players’ performances across key categories, giving athletes a platform to be recognized for their hard work and outstanding contributions to the game.

The Golden Categories: Celebrating Excellence
The partnership will feature three main categories throughout the months of March, April, and May: Golden Bat, Golden Arm, and Golden Glove. These awards are designed to highlight players who excel in specific aspects of the game, recognizing them for their achievements and helping to bring more attention to the high school softball season.

Golden Glove: Perfect Fielding
The Golden Glove award will recognize players who have maintained a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) throughout the season. To be eligible, players must have a minimum number of games played and attempts. This award is designed to honor players who display exceptional defensive skills and consistency on the field, with a special focus on error-free play.
As the season progresses, the list of players with a perfect fielding percentage will shrink, with the top 10 being highlighted regularly.

Golden Arm: Dominating the Mound
The Golden Arm award will recognize pitchers who excel in four key categories: strikeouts, wins, shutouts/no-hitters, and lowest earned run average (ERA). These metrics are critical indicators of a pitcher’s effectiveness and dominance on the mound. The Golden Arm award seeks to celebrate the pitchers who are not only performing at the highest level but also leading their teams to success throughout the season.
Golden Bat: Power at the Plate
The Golden Bat award will honor players with exceptional offensive performances, specifically in the areas of batting average, runs batted in (RBIs), home runs, and stolen bases. These categories represent the all-around offensive contributions that can help a team succeed, and the award will recognize players who excel at driving in runs, making consistent contact, and creating opportunities on the base paths.

End-of-Season Awards: Honoring the Best
The coverage will culminate with an end-of-season awards presentation in June, where the top five players in each of the three categories will be recognized. In addition to the Golden Bat, Golden Arm, and Golden Glove awards, one overall winner from each category will be chosen.
Looking to the Future: Growing the Game
This partnership between MaxPreps and Extra Inning Softball is just the beginning of a new era for high school softball coverage. With a shared vision of bringing more attention to the players and teams who make this sport so incredible, this collaboration will not only recognize individual achievements but also help elevate the profile of the sport on a national level. By celebrating the talents of high school athletes, Extra Inning Softball and MaxPreps are working together to ensure that high school softball receives the attention and respect it truly deserves.
As the season unfolds, fans, players, and coaches alike can look forward to seeing the top players across the nation shine, with a platform that recognizes their hard work and dedication to the game.
