After a monster summer, Team North Carolina-Hinde C/UT Audrey Wilson is one of the prospects we expect to be making a major move when the new 2024 Extra Elite 100 rankings come out.
As a 2024, she played up with Team NC-Hinde's 16U squad and led the team with a .478 batting average this summer. Her offensive numbers and skills behind the dish set her apart. She batted .800 with an .824 OBP and zero errors in 25 total chances to help Team NC-Hinde go 7-2 at the USA Softball 16U Nationals. All of this helped her make Extra Inning Softball's All-Summer Team (16U).
"Audrey is a power-hitting catcher that has a strong arm and has excellent footwork and glovework behind the plate," Team NC coach Kevin Hinde said. "Offensively, she has a lot of pop with her bat and can hit to all parts of the field with power."
2025 C/3B Anna Hinde is blown away by Wilson's skills.
"Audrey's skills on the field are extremely elite," Hinde said. "She has a cannon behind the plate and from the outfield and she is always working hard, stealing strikes and helping her pitchers while behind the plate. She is the epitome of a great teammate. She is always there picking us up and encouraging us no matter the situation. She holds herself accountable and is receptive to feedback. She is not afraid to ask questions which really helps to elevate her game to the next level.
"What makes Audrey unique is her belief and trust in the process. Coming to our team, she understood she had to adapt to the faster pace of playing at such a high level and made the commitment to watch, learn and work her way into our talented lineup. Her work ethic rivals any I've ever seen. She is always working, whether it's in the weight room or on the field and every time I see her, she continues to progress. As a matter of fact, she led our team in batting average this summer so going from playing an inning here and there to earning a spot in the lineup to recording the highest batting average makes Audrey unique and invaluable. I'm honored to be her teammate."
Team NC's pitchers really appreciate her glovework behind the plate.
"Audrey catches me more than any other catcher on the team and I can say she is a stud," 2023 P/1B Taylor Barlow said. "Audrey has a grown so much over the past year because she works harder than almost anyone I know. She has improved tremendously and continues to work harder to get better. She even comes out once a week to catch my pitching lessons. Not only is she a great player on the field but an amazing teammate. Audrey can always put a smile on your face no matter what. She expects no less than the best out of herself and continues to push herself to excel constantly."
Wilson does all the little things that make herself and those around her better.
"Audrey is an amazing player and an amazing teammate," 2023 SS/CF Teagan Ritchie said. "She is a fast thinker and does whatever it takes to get the job done for the team. She isn't afraid to go all out or get dirty to make the plays and she shows heart when she's on the field. She plays a big role on our team and steps up when asked."
"Audrey cheers on everyone and is always there to pick her teammates up when they are down. Audrey is very talented on the field and at the plate, she is all-around a great athlete and I'm so glad that I can play on a team with her."
