Dakota Crowe, a 6-foot 2024 right-hander, could be the next big thing to come out of the South.
Coach Mike Bagarose certainly believes so because he went right after when forming his new AP Gold 2023-Bagarose squad for this fall. Bagarose said she is an “elite level” talent that commands the circle with “power and movement,” a solid line-drive hitter at the plate and “one of the strongest overhand throwers in this age group.”
The 14-year-old Georgia girl, who hopes to attend the Univ. of Florida, made the varsity team as a freshman at Wayne County High of Jesup, Georgia. Her teammates are expecting big things from her.
“She’s the youngest player on our team who has embraced her role with humble determination,” 2023 IF Hannah Glass said. “I consider myself lucky to get to watch her grow as a pitcher. Dakota is working hard to develop her pitches and is going to dominate. I really like the fact that she’s 6-feet and taller than me too. When she’s playing first base, I’m not worried about my throws from third needing to be perfect as she’s got a great stretch to help me out. She’s a strong hitter too. Dakota is a key part to our team’s success and we are blessed to have her.”
2023 UT Hannah Davis admires Crowe’s demeanor on the field.
Dakota is calm in all situations and is never shaken by who is standing in the batter’s box or what the score is,” Davis said. “She never gives in as she slings it in there no matter what. Her 6-foot frame allows her to stand tall over her competition, literally. She throws it hard and her curveball is one of the best out there. When she is not on the mound her athletic ability allows her to play outfield and hit the ball really, really well, which surprised some of our competition this year (laughs)!”
“ Like I said before, she is so calm in all situations, I always can go to her when I just need a pat on the back or a smile. One of my favorite memories with Dakota is when our families hung out at the hotel pool one night, ate pizza and cut up after a long tournament.”
