Extra Inning Softball is proud to announce a transformative overhaul of its Extra Elite 100 player rankings process. With a renewed commitment to transparency, credibility, and recognition of top talent, we are ushering in a new era that will set a new standard in the industry.
Previous Ranking Methodology
In the past, the process of ranking players in softball has often been marred by confusion and ambiguity due to the practice of repetitive ties amongst the players, who occupy different positions into the same ranking spot. This approach, while well-intentioned, has led to a lack of clarity and understanding among fans, athletes, and the softball community at large.
The rankings that reflected ties with players from multiple positions, such as ranking a pitcher from one state and a catcher from another in the same spot, has made it challenging for individuals to discern how the rankings were determined and to appreciate the unique talents and skills of each player.
Recognizing the limitations of the previous ranking methodology, Extra Inning Softball has made the decision to provide a more clear, fair and analytical assessment of players. By moving away from ties and implementing a more precise and structured approach, we are committed to offering a ranking system that accurately reflects the talents and abilities of the top players in fastpitch.
Revamped Rankings Process
Moving forward, the new approach will feature the top Extra Elite 100 players in each specific position: 1) pitchers, 2) catchers, 3) infielders, and 4) outfielders. By focusing on individual positions, we aim to highlight more players within each position.
In addition to the comprehensive changes to our ranking process, we want to clarify how we will be presenting our rankings moving forward. We understand the importance of recognizing talent at both regional and national levels, and we are committed to providing a platform that highlights the best players in each category.
Regional Rankings First, then the Extra Elite 100!
Our approach involves first announcing the rankings for the top players in each region, showcasing standout performers in local communities. This regional focus will continue to play a crucial role in our rankings, as we believe in the significance of honoring talent at all levels of the game.
