Giana D’Amico: Battling Back from an ACL and Meniscus Tear

Giana D’Amico, a talented softball player from the Chattanooga Arsenal Class of 2028, has faced significant adversity over the past year. Known for her strength as a first baseman, third baseman, and right-handed pitcher, D’Amico’s journey took an unexpected turn in October 2023, when a serious injury altered her path.

During a routine play at third base, D’Amico attempted to backhand a ball hit up the foul line. In a moment, her knee twisted awkwardly, causing immediate pain. She soon learned that she had torn her ACL and meniscus, an injury that would require surgery and months of rehabilitation. For an athlete so deeply committed to the game, the news was devastating.
