I Committed: Paige Bambarger

Paige Bambarger, a 2024 third baseman and utility player for Athletics Mercado, committed in October 2022 to Oregon State University to further her softball career.

Bambarger started playing the game when she was nine years old but wasn’t exactly thrilled about it. However, it didn’t take long for her to fall in love with softball and desire to excel at it.

“I was playing in a recreational league and was invited to a tryout for a upstart Athletics Mercado team,” Bambarger said. “My family knew nothing about travel ball, but we decided to attend the tryout for the experience and to see how a ‘real’ practice was run. I was offered a spot on the team and after some long talks with my parents, we joined the organization and have never looked back.”

Since then, Bambarger and Athletics Mercado have won numerous national championships. She has also been ranked several times in the EIS Elite 100 with the highest ranking being 14th in her class. In high school ball, Bambarger has been named all-league two consecutive years for Murrieta Mesa High School and was selected Second Team All-State for Cal High last season.

She is extremely excited about her decision to commit to Oregon State where she plans to study Bio Health Science.

“The family environment of the coaching staff was incredibly comforting, and the knowledge and experience that Coach Berg brings to the table is second to none,” Bambarger said. “I have also been on campus at Oregon State multiple times and fell in love with the city of Corvallis, and the campus.”

Bambarger will join the Beavers in the fall of this year and will don the No. 51 jersey.
