Inside Pitch: 2025 Extra Elite 100 Power Hitter Mia Galella… Camping (& Homering!) at the University of Virginia Camp

Mia Galella (far left)and her teammate Emily Collins (right) with several Virginia players helping at the recent UVA softball camp.

Mia Galella, a 1B/OF/power hitter who is #25 in the 2025 Extra Elite 100 and a member of Virginia Glory, blogs about her softball adventures for Extra Inning Softball and in this week’s edition talks about how much she loved a recent college camp she attended (and impressed at).

In her Extra Elite 100 bio we wrote that:

“Mia is one of the hardest working players in her class and also one of the strongest. She has an exit velocity measured at 77 mph and has on video hit 12 balls in a row over a 200-foot fence during practice.”

“Mia isn’t just a big bopper, she has been timed in home-to-first with a 3.04 second mark and is looking to go sub-3.0.”

From Moscow, Pennsylvania, she’s 5-foot-9 and hit .760 at TCS Nationals last August in Myrtle Beach.”

We first profiled her in an Extra Star Power article published in March 2020 titled: 2025 Power Hitter Mia Galella Has “Freakish Power” & Runs Well Too!

Her last blog before this was last month when she related how much the Virginia Glory Strike Out Cancer Invitational & Camp impressed her.

In this weekend’s Inside Pitch, Mia recaps the fun she and teammate Emily Collins had at the University of Virginia summer camp…

This past weekend I attended University of Virginia softball camp at the Hoos’ new stadium, Palmer Park.

Head coach Joanna Hardin and assistant coaches Jake Sidwell and Mike Roberts did such an amazing job with this two-day camp!

Saturday, we did skill work and hitting along with multiple informational talks. Players were there to help and took us on a campus tour. The Charlottesville area is absolutely beautiful and it was nice as well to see so many familiar faces attending the camp.

Sunday was game day. Each player got to play two games with the team they were assigned to. I was so happy to see Emily Collins, who is my teammate on Virginia Glory National Mertz- Bronowicz, be placed on my team at the camp.

She is an absolute stud pitcher who has been bringing it at about 65 mph!

In the one game, I hit a home run that hit the back of the bullpen. It was such a great feeling hitting one out of a college stadium!

All the players did a great job and the UVA coaches were so awesome! Coach Jo and Coach Jake are two of the nicest coaches I’ve ever met and they really took their time instructing all the players.

This is one of the best softball camp experiences I have ever had and I can’t wait to do it again!

Go Hoos!

Here’s the video clip of Mia smashing the home run in the stadium!
