The U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) earned its spot in the Pan American Championship gold medal game after downing Cuba 13-2 (five innings) in last night’s semifinal competition.Â
Recording it’s seventh run-rule win in the tournament, the Eagles racked up 13 hits behind impressive 3-for-4 performances from Dejah Mulipola and Aubrey Leach while Sis Bates and Amanda Lorenz also contributed with two hits apiece.
A triple (Mulipola) and four doubles (Mulipola, Leach, Bates, Lorenz) propelled the U.S. lineup while singles from Jada Cody, Sahvanna Jaquish and Janae Jefferson also contributed to the offensive explosion.
Megan Faraimo took care of business in the circle, shutting down the Cuba offense with five strike outs in five innings pitched.
Slated for today at 6 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. ET, the Gold Medal match features Team USA going into the title game with an undefeated 8-0 record as they look to claim the Pan Am Championship title. The Eagles will take on the winner of Cuba and Puerto Rico/Canada.
