International: Team USA Rolls Through Pool Play at 2022 Pan American Women’s Championship Outscoring Opponents 83-6… Playoffs Begin Today

On Wednesday, The U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) improved to 6-0 at the 2022 Pan American Championship after two run-rule wins over El Salvador (16-1) and Brazil (11-2).

This after a 20-0 two and a half inning run-rule win on Tuesday over Costa Rico in Game 4; an 8-0 blanking of Puerto Rico in Game 3 and a 19-3 rout of Venezuela in Game 2 and an opening 9-2 victory over Argentina last Saturday, making it a collective 86 runs scored in six games for the Red, White & Blue versus just 8 runs allowed to opposing offenses.

That’s a 13.8-to-1.3 score difference, but now, however, it’s on to the Playoff and Medal Rounds and, certainly, the games should be tighter (though it remains to be seen if anyone can make it truly competitive with the way Team USA is playing!).

Here’s a look at the Pan Am Women’s Championship games for today:

…. and also the brackets look as Medal Play runs today through Saturday:

The 2022 U.S. WNT Pan Am Championship roster contains a mix of veteran talent and fresh faces with seven athletes returning from the Canada Cup, World Games and Japan All-Star Series rosters while nine members look are making their 2022 debut for Team USA.

Among the veterans are six members of the World Games gold medal team – two of which helped lead the U.S. to a silver medal finish at the Tokyo Olympic Games – and five additional athletes with experience on a previous U.S. WNT or Junior Women’s National Team (JWNT) roster.

Five rookies are repping the Red, White and Blue for the first time in their career. Team USA is led by Head Coach Heather Tarr and Assistant Coaches Brian Kolze and Mike Steuerwald.
