Creighton head coach Krista Wood was inducted into the Omaha Athletics Hall of Fame on Thursday.
Wood, nee Unger, was one of three former student-athletes enshrined by their alma mater as part of the induction Class of 2022.
A star pitcher for the Mavs from 1999-2003, Wood graduated as the program’s winningest pitcher. She collected a career record of 106-27 during her tenure and was a catalyst to the program’s 2001 Division II national championship. She earned all-tournament team honors that same year after a postseason performance that included a complete game two-hitter in a shutout win in the national championship game.
Twice an all-conference selection during her playing career, Wood stands second in program history with 530 career strikeouts. Her career statistics also include 43 career shutouts and a lifetime 1.25 ERA.
Thursday’s induction moves the Omaha Hall of Fame to 122 members. Wood is the 14th Mavs softball player to be inducted and the first since 2015.
