Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? I joined Coach (Steve) Walling’s team in December 2019 while we were Athletics Mercado. We had a successful run before our team joined the Lady Magic family. I am proud to wear the Lady Magic jersey and represent Northern California. Coach Walling and Coach (Jay) Kyne have taught me so much about softball and myself. They’ve helped build up my softball IQ and I still have so much to learn from them.
Do you have any suggestions for training methods or apps and why? I’ve been doing a lot of running lately and have been using the Nike Run Club app to track my progression. I also do a lot of weight training to continue getting stronger. Also, to work on my spin for my pitches I use the Spin Dr. that was developed by former Team USA and Fresno State All-American Jamie Southern.
Can you tell us about your experience at PGF Nationals this summer? Going into PGF, I was super nervous because I was coming off an injury and hadn’t pitched in eight weeks. Seeing all the college coaches at our games was amazing and intimidating all at the same time. It felt so good to be back on the mound and help my team battle against some really good teams. We ended our PGF run with 9th place.
What was your favorite fall tournament/event and why? I took some time to continue healing and came back in time to play in our last fall showcase, PGF Early Thanksgiving Showcase. There were so many good teams there. It was a nice sneak peek of what we have to look forward to this summer at PGF Nationals.
Which player/team was your toughest opponent and why? One of the toughest teams that I’ve pitched against was the Atlanta Vipers-Tamborra team. They hit the ball well and were a well-coached team.
What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I want to be a crime scene investigator or a homicide detective. I want to be able to help people and keep them safe.
What are you looking for in a future college? For my future college, I will be looking for schools that have a strong sense of community, quality academics and, of course, a good athletics program.
Who is your sports hero and why? My older brother Caleb (Solis) is my sports hero. He is the prime example of what a teammate is supposed to be. He plays with everything he’s got from the first whistle to the last whistle.
What’s the best hype song and why? “Baby” by Lil Baby. Lil Baby is my favorite artist and listening to him gets me pumped up to tackle whatever comes my way.
What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? I like to binge watch the “First 48” with my parents. I find the police and detective work very interesting. When I want to get a laugh, I’ll binge watch “Schitt’s Creek.”
Do you have a secret talent/skill? I’m a pretty good cook. My favorite thing to cook is Spam fried rice.
