Breaking News: PGF Shootout Championship Roundup & Results

Oklahoma-bound Nicole May tossed a three-hit shutout with three walks and four strikeouts to outduel Arizona-bound Devyn Netz, leading OC Batbusters-Stith to a 1-0 victory over So Cal Athletics-Richardson in the 18U championship game of the PGF Shootout on Sunday at Fountain Valley Sportspark in Orange County, California.

Netz also threw a three-hitter with two walks and three strikeouts.

“It was an old-fashioned pitcher’s game,” Batbusters coach Mike Stith said. “They both pitched really well.”

The Batbusters got to Netz in the top of the seventh in ITB.

Ailana Agbayan scored the winning run for the Batbusters.

Uncommitted 2022 2B/SS/OF Ailana Agbayani, who was placed at second to start the inning, stole third base and scored on uncommitted 2022 C Alexis Ramirez’s sacrifice fly to left field.

“She will be a very common name in softball,” Stith said of Agbayani, the daughter of former major leaguer Benny Agbayani. “She’s only a sophomore.”

May retired the So Cal A’s with a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the seventh to lock down the shutout.
