We’ve told you about Addie Mettler, the outstanding 2023 catcher/third baseman for Nor Cal Firecrackers – Mettler who is ranked in the Top 5 of her class.
Recently, she wrote a poignant piece for us about Mending Racial Divides and she comes from quite the athletic family: dad played football in college, mom and her older sister played softball.
In a friendly last weekend held in Modesto, California, the 16U power-hitter stepped into the batter’s box with a mask she borrowed from her dad, Greg Mettler, due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions for play, and promptly connected on a two-run single up the middle.
Was it the mask?
Nope, it’s her talent: a year ago the California native played 14U while 12U eligible and hit .485 with 11 home runs, 103 runs scored, 70 RBIs, 50 steals and had only 18 K’s in 261 at-bats.
We also give her bonus points for style in how the mask matches the helmet!
Addie already has colleges very interested in and you can count on her being heavily recruited when the time comes… mask or no mask!
