Overcoming Community Politics in Sports: 2027 Lauren Whitten, Ambassador, Shares Insight
As part of our ambassador program, each participant was encouraged to write an article to be featured on our website. Throughout the program, we focused on our core values: empowering, inspiring, and supporting the softball community. To embody this mission, the ambassadors were tasked with selecting an advocacy topic they felt passionate about. Lauren Whitten, one of our Extra Impact Ambassadors, chose to focus on a topic close to her heart: overcoming community politics in sports.
She dove deep into the issue, discussing how favoritism, biases, and external influences can affect athletes, particularly in youth sports. This project allowed Lauren and other ambassadors to raise awareness, spark meaningful conversations, and discover ways to support individuals within their chosen area of focus—showcasing their dedication to making a positive impact in the softball world.
