
Ohio State slugger Sam Hackenbracht has been named the Extra Inning Softball Player of the Week for her efforts during Week 6 of the college softball season.
In six games, Hackenbracht batted .588 in Week 6, hit six home runs, and recorded ten RBI.
Against UCF in a midweek game, Hackenbracht was 2-2 at the plate, hitting a pair of solo home runs in her first multi-home run game of the 2022 season. In the Buckeyes’ next game against Lehigh, Hackenbracht again hit two home runs in the game, driving in four runs total in the run-rule win.
Following a 1-3 performance against South Florida, Hackenbracht returned to her power-hitting ways against St. Thomas, going 2-3 at the plate with a home run and two RBIs in the tight OSU victory. She added another base hit against Canisius before finishing the weekend a perfect 2-2 in a rematch against South Florida, hitting her sixth home run of the week and collecting two RBIs to move her week’s total to ten runs driven in.
Entering Week 6, Hackenbracht had hit just one home run and owned eleven RBI on the season. Her season’s totals now stand at seven home runs and 21 RBIs on the year; she is six RBIs away from setting a new career high in that category.
