September 6th is Jocelyn Alo Day in Honolulu

Jocelyn Alo is one of the the state of Hawaii’s most accomplished athletes and her list of accolades grew as Tuesday, September 6th, was recognized as Jocelyn Alo Day in the city and county of Honolulu.

Honolulu mayor Rick Blangiardi tweeted the proclamation on Monday, alongside a photo of himself and Alo.

“The greatest softball player in NCAA history is home!” Blangiardi wrote. “In honor of her incredible record-setting career at [Oklahoma], we’re proclaiming September 6, 2022 as Jocelyn Alo Day in the City and County of Honolulu — congratulations, @78jocelyn_alo!”

Alo owns the NCAA home run record, finishing her illustrious career with a total of 122 longballs. Alo was the first college softball player to cross into triple digits in home runs and ended her career as the premier slugger in NCAA diamond sports, hitting more home runs than any other college softball or baseball player in history.

This season, Alo was named the Women’s College World Series’ Most Outstanding Player, won the Honda Sport Award for softball, was named the National Player of the Year, earned Big 12 Player of the Year honors, and was a unanimous First-Team All-American.
