In the summer of 2022, Extra Inning Softball was on site for the Veterans Legacy Tournament in Atlanta, Ga. A correspondent was watching a game, but was quickly drawn to another nearby game because of the loud and energetic cheering from a particular team. (It’s important to note when we attend tournaments, we evaluate different aspects of the game which includes how teams interact and treat one another is something that could be included in our ranking process).
After a few innings of observation of the team’s high-energy culture it became clear that D1Vision was a program to watch. A little research revealed that Tammy Vermeulen not only coached the team, but also was the club director.
Vermeulen has quickly elevated D1Vision to one of the top club programs in the South and she sat down with Extra Inning Softball to share her journey as a player, coach and club director. We think you will be inspired by the success Vermeulen, and her D1Vision club, has had.

How Did You Get Started as a Travel/Club Director?
After my experience playing at a high level for the Gold Coast Hurricanes and the opportunities that came from being a part of such a national program, I really knew I would love to coach. Then, when I got to LSU, learning such intriguing details and strategic things about the game, I kept stashing all the knowledge away knowing I would want to coach at the next level one day.
