LADY SLUGGERS GRAB SEFL FALL TITLE
For the second year in a row, Jim Heucker’s Louisville Lady Sluggers went undefeated to win the SEFL Fall 18U title in Clearwater, FL, this past weekend.
The Slugers went 6-0, including 4-0 in bracket play, and beat EC Bullets Gold-Schnute, 6-4, in the finals to earn a Tier 1 berth to the 2022 Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series.
Izzy Kemp and Nija Kennedy combined for 13 Ks to get the win, Louisville-bound Sarah Gordon went 3 for 3 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs, Cassie Grizzard went 2 for 3 and Addey Bruneman had two RBIs for the Sluggers in the finals.
“Fantastic effort and performance from this team,” Huecker said. “I can’t say enough about every player on this squad. Playing short-rostered and banged up a bit, they just kept leaning on each other and stayed focused on why we were here … I love this group of girls … They are the definition of TEAM!”
